Wacky Warning Labels # tradeshow booth of life
Written by Tradeshow Booth Guy on May 23, 2012 – 4:39 pm -This warning on a griddle may be the winner in the 15th Annual Wacky Warning Contest but there is strong competition from an electric razor that warns users not to “use while sleeping” and a laptop steering wheel desk that warns users to “Never use this product while driving.”
Wacky Warning Labels is a project of the non-profit organization, Center for America.
Hilarious past winners include: “Remove child before folding” on a baby stroller and “Does not provide oxygen” on a common dust mask.

Written by Tradeshow Booth Guy on May 22, 2012 – 4:32 pm -One third of adult Americans are overweight (ie, with a BMI between 25 and 29.9) and another third are obese (a BMI of 30 or higher), according to the National Centre for Health Statistics in Toledo, Maryland.
Obesity is already costing America over $190 billion a year—21% of the amount spent on medical services—and is set to rise much higher. If current trends continue, about 42% of the population will be obese by 2030, reckons the American Journal of Preventive Medicine. By then, obesity will probably cost the country $550 billion a year.
Calculate your BMI:

Why Did this Woman Go Shopping Naked? # tradeshow booth of life
Written by Tradeshow Booth Guy on May 21, 2012 – 2:57 pm -Barbara Lafleur stripped down to her birthday suit and calmly walked into two New York businesses this week, shocking employees and attracting the gaze of more than one startled shopper.
Lafleur’s first stop was Curtis Lumber, where surveillance cameras captured her strolling casually through the store. She asked a couple of employees what time it was, told them to “Have a good day,” and then walked out.
After leaving the lumber yard, Lafleur allegedly walked a short distance to a Stewart’s Shops convenience store. “The clerk said, ‘Excuse me, ma’am, did you know you have no clothes on?’ and she said, ‘Oh yeah I’m totally fine with that.”

How to Get Your Piece of Skecher’s $40 Million Payout – you don’t need a receipt. # tradeshow booth of life
Written by Tradeshow Booth Guy on May 18, 2012 – 2:42 pm -Skechers has agreed to pay $40 million to consumers who purchased its rocker-bottom shoes under the mistaken belief that the shoes would help give them Kim Kardashian’s booty or Joe Montana’s stamina. So how do you get your piece of the payout if you purchased the shoes months, if not years ago, and don’t have a receipt?
No problem. This refund relies largely on the honor system. A definite thumbs us from the Tradeshow booth of Life.
Anyone who purchased the company’s line of Shape-Up shoes — or its Resistance Runners, Tone-ups or Toners — is entitled to a partial refund whether they have proof of purchase or not, officials said Thursday.
Consumers are urged to submit a claim at www.skecherssettlement.com, fill out the online form and offer up any documentation or recollections that they might have — details about the purchase, or perhaps a credit card receipt.

Man Mistakes Girlfriend for a Hog….Shoots Her # tradeshow booth of life
Written by Tradeshow Booth Guy on May 16, 2012 – 3:09 pm -Steven Egan, 52, was hunting with his girlfriend, Lisa Simmons, in Northern Florida when he mistook her for a hog and shot her. A typical move in the tradeshow booth of life areana.
The mistake was not related to the girl’s appearance. Rather, Egan had earlier shot at a hog that continued to evade him. He reportedly instructed Simmons to stay at their campsite while he pursued the evasive animal. However, Simmons ventured away from the campsite, apparently searching for oranges that had fallen from nearby trees.
When Egan heard rustling in the woods, he fired in her direction without first making visual confirmation with his intended target. Instead, Simmons was struck in the legs by a .30-caliber bullet from Egan’s gun. She was airlifted to the nearby Halifax Health Medical Center where she is listed as being in serious condition.

Man Finds His Stolen Bicycle on Craigslist, Steals It Back # trade show booth of life
Written by Tradeshow Booth Guy on May 15, 2012 – 6:47 pm -When a Danny Lesh of Washington D.C. saw his recently stolen bicycle for sale on Craigslist, his mission became clear: get it back, with or without the help of police.
Lesh purchased the bike for $600 in 1998, and the thief was asking for $100. He contacted police, but when they told him they couldn’t respond right away, he decided to reacquire the bike by himself before it was shipped off to a new owner. So he arranged a meeting with the seller, and, as a potentially interested buyer, took the bike for a little test-spin. And then never went back.
The seller began calling Lesh, threatening to contact the police, but Lesh continued to ride all the way home, where he promptly took to Craigslist to warn others about this man selling stolen bikes. “I couldn’t help feeling bad for all the other people he’d stolen bikes from,” he said of the thief. “I’m glad that, hopefully, his business is interrupted a little bit.”

Global Warming Linked to Dinosaurs’ Farts # trade show booth of life
Written by Tradeshow Booth Guy on May 10, 2012 – 3:01 pm -Dinosaurs’ gassy guts may have contributed to global warming tens of millions of years ago, according to a new study that finds a group of plant-eating dinosaurs could have produced about as much methane as all of today’s natural and man-made sources of the greenhouse gas.
British researchers reported that the methane emissions from sauropods far outstripped those of today’s cattle, goats and other cud-chewing mammals.
Sauropods were a diverse bunch of plant-eating dinosaurs, known for their small heads and giant bodies with long necks and tails. An average-sized sauropod — such as Apatosaurus louisae, once popularly known as brontosaurus — could weigh 44,000 pounds, making it several times bigger than an elephant.
